2nd National Management Faculty Development Programme inaugurated at ASBM

Asian School of Business Management inaugurated it’s 2nd Faculty Development Programme which is sponsored by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Govt.of India on 18th May 2009. The chief guest Prof. Rajneesh Srivastava, Director, NIT, Jamshedpur inaugurated the Programme by lighting the lamp. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srivastava elucidated that Management education in the recent past has undergone radical changes to keep pace with enormous challenges. Hence, there is tremendous need to revamp the existing skills, attitudes, competencies as well as motivational levels to achieve global benchmark. In this context, he further emphasized that the attributes of a management educator should be such that he should don the role of a facilitator or a learner than a teacher. He added that keeping pace with fast changing global scenario the role and responsibility of management educator is gradually shifting from classroom teacher to classroom managers. Prof. Srivasta appreciated about the committed efforts of Prof. Pattanayak of translating his dream of making this institute an IIM in the private sector into reality and expressed his hope that very soon this institute will be adorned with the coveted status.

Addressing the gathering, Founder & Director of the institute, Prof. Biswajeet Pattanayak said that we are passing through an era of virtualization of business and the large scale technological upsurge has radically transformed the world. He reiterated that the revolutionizing forces of technology are posing a series of unprecedented challenges for the management institutions of the new order. According to him, the new age management educators have a daunting task of not only transforming the students into successful managers of tomorrow but also nurturing them with fundamental human values amidst this unending race for profit and success.

On this memorable occasion, Prof. Pattanayak announced that Asian School of Business Management in their future plan will set up a Staff Training College for the training of Management faculty to meet the ever changing needs and scarcity of qualitative and effective management educators.

The director also expressed that no stone has been unturned to make this as a National Programme to offer a meaningful platform to management educators to learn the nuances of new age management education. This two week long Management Faculty Development Programme witnessed 46 participants from different states such as Tamil Nadu, Assam, Punjab, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, & Orissa.

The co-coordinator of the Programme, Prof. Mrutyunjay Dash introduced the guests and the vote of thanks was extended by the coordinator, Prof. Sarbananda Sahoo. The Dean, Prof. Kalyan Shankar Ray, faculty delegates, faculty & staff of ASBM Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad were also present on the occasion.
