National Management Seminar On CSR,17th December,2010

For many years community development goals were philanthropic activities that were seen as separate from business objectives, not fundamental to them; doing well and doing good were seen as separate pursuits. But what many of the organizations are learning today is that, cutting edge innovation and competitive advantage can result from weaving social and economic commitments into business strategy from the beginning said noted litterateur and MP Dr. Prasanna Patasani. Inaugurating the National Management Seminar on CSR has not only staged a revolutionary upsurge of social responsibility among the business tycoons but also signaled as the harbinger of a new era ; the era of responsible existence of the corporate world . Addressing this seminar the Director ( Finance ) of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. Shri Kulamani Biswal said this long journey to ensure the existence of committed corporate houses has also traversed through the complex path of socio-economic , political and legal turmoil and thereby generating many aberrations that hinder the path of achieving CSR’s mandated objectives today .Gracing the occasion the Military Attaché in Indian Embassy at Iraq , Brigadier L.C.Pattnayak said that CSR today has become much ritualistic panacea to get rid of corporate misdemeanors . Although business exists and exists primarily for profit. But after earning profit, a business organization can not abdicate its social responsibility by only appeasing the shareholders.
