Internationally reckoned Professor of Accounting Information and Management and Prof Emeritus of Kellogg School of Management, Padmashree Prof Bala Balachandran has been conferred with the prestigious ASBM Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2011. In a glittering event, organized at the Central Auditorium of ace B-School, the founder and Director of ASBM, Prof. Biswajeet Pattanayak honoured this outstanding genius with citation, memento and shawl in recognition of his trend setting career in management education. Addressing the gathering of management scholars and members of the faculty, Prof. Bala reminded of the glorious Indian tradition of education, running down the memory lane 2,000 years ago with Nalada as the citadel. He said that as Puspagiri Buddhist University of Orissa bears claims of this legacy, the state is going to be the nerves centre in determining the course of management leadership spearheaded by India and China. Referring to the fierce of competition in the prevailing market economy, he said that the cutting age advantage can be gained by providing constant customers’ satisfaction and thrust on quality.

Hinting upon the paradigm shift, Prof. Bala said that time value of money has been replaced with money value of time. He lauded the efforts of Prof. Pattanayak in pioneering world class business learning in the eastern part of the sub continent. This acclaimed award has been conferred on Asian Logistics icon, Mr. Mahendra Aggarwal for the year 2010, noted management guru, Padmashree Prof. Pritam Singh for 2008 and Chancellor of North Carolina University, Prof. Charlie Nelms for 2009 and this tradition of excellence will continue to project trend setting contribution in the field of management education, said Prof. Pattanayak. The Dean of the institute, Prof. Kalyan S Ray introduced the guest and Chairman of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Ashish Mohanty proposed a vote of thanks.
